Carnival

Declared a Festival of National Tourist Interest

The Sitges Carnival is one of the oldest in Catalonia and among the best in Europe.  It is particularly famous for its festive, inclusive atmosphere and the huge numbers of local and international visitors who flock to it. It is held the week prior to Ash Wednesday, marking the start of Lent on the Christian calendar.

The figures speak volumes: 44 floats, 2,500 people in fancy dress and more than 300,000 spectators. All of this occurs in a festive, madcap environment with two main events: the processions on Sunday and Tuesday. Both processions feature spectacular floats, elaborate costumes and a completely festive atmosphere.
